Classroom News October 27^th – 31^st

^{This week we will be talking about Halloween!  We will be doing lots of spooky activities.  On Friday we will have a small Halloween party.  You child can bring their costume to school, please make sure they have a change of clothing as well.  Masks and weapons are not permitted.  Let me know if you would like to send in a treat for the class, please remember that we are a nut free school.  Have a spooktacular Week!}

Kindergarten News October 20-24

This week we welcome back Ms. Eagles, a student teacher from UPEI.  She will be working in our classroom until December 18^th.  This week we are talking about the letters “Cc” and “Kk”.  We  will be talking about the words: we, at, an, am.

Last week your child participated in a Phonological awareness assessment with me.   I will be sending out a summery of the assessment.  Theses skills can be worked on at home.  An explanation and example of these skills can be found in the orange homework folder on the purple page.  Phonological skills are an important step in the road to reading.

The weather has changed, please send a warm coat, hat and mittens each day.  Splash pants are a great idea to break the wind.

  Kindergarten News for October 14^th – 17^th, 2014

This week we will be talking about the letter “Nn”.  We have some new words as well:  the, no, on.  We will be talking and writing about what we did on the Long weekend.

Monday – Happy Thanksgiving!

Tuesday – Token/ Pizza ordering day

Friday – Field Trip to Wintermoor Apple Orchard. 

·       Leave the school – 9:00 a.m.

·       Tour of the orchard starts at 9:30 a.m.

·       Tour is 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

·       You can drop your child off back at the school after the tour.  Thank you for you help with transportation.

·       If the orchard is closer to you, please feel free to meet us there.  Your child does not NEED to come to school before the tour, unless they are meeting their drive here.  If you have any questions, please let me know. 

Looking ahead… Pumpkin Fun night, October 23^rd 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Weekly News October 6th-8th

This week will be short but a busy one in kindergarten.  We will be reviewing the letters: Ss, Aa, Tt, Ii.  At home you can practice printing and making the sound for each of these letters.  Our new letter this week is, Pp.  We will be talking and writing about Thanksgiving Day, and what we are thankful for.  In math we will be comparing 2 sets using one to one correspondence.  We will use words like, more, fewer, same number as, as many as to talk about what we are seeing.

Monday –    Weekend Stories/ Start mini unit on Thanksgiving

Tuesday – Token Day/ No pizza this week

Wednesday –  Review everything covered this week.

Thursday – No school/ PEITF Convention

Friday – No school/ PEITF Convention

Monday – No School/Happy Thanksgiving!

The long weekend is a great opportunity to play some of the games inside the orange homework folder. :)
